Schio - a town in the Italian region of Veneto, in the province of Vicenza, northern Italy. The city is located north of Vicenza, to the east of Lake Garda. Skio surround Predalpy, the so-called «Small Dolomites», and the mountain Pasubio.
In the outskirts of the city is the diversity of flora and fauna. You can find nearly 1000 species of plants and different colors, about 7.5% of the total European flora, 15% Italian, and more than 30% of plants found in the Veneto. In places with high humidity can find many of the forests Bukov, but on the tops of the mountains, pine trees grow. Not rare animals such as deer, foxes and numerous species of small mammals.
Attractions:
- Tkach Statue erected in 1879 by Alessandro Rossi who dedicated it to his workers. Living Skio call it «L'Omo» which means «man» in Italian dialect. The statue depicts a man who keeps his hand in the shuttle from the loom, the emblem of his craft and also a symbol of the entire industry.
- Tower of the castle was destroyed in 1514.
- San Francesco Church was built in the early 15 century. Included in the complex of buildings that belonged to the monastery first dei Frati Minori (1437-1806) and then the hospital Institute Baratto (1807-1959), and now is used by nursing homes.
- Little Church of St. Mary in the Valley began to build in 1511 and completed in 1580.
- Palace Toaldi-Capra built in 15 th century or earlier. Toaldi originally belonged to the family then moved to the noble Enrico Capra and in 1913 became the Town Hall. Carefully restored in 1981 and is now used as a music institute and a cultural center.
